My first class went rather well, I must say. Granted our professor spent most of the time talking, so I didn't have to embarrass myself with bad contributions, but overall it was a very informative experience. For one, I learned about different milestones in the publishing world (copyright in the 19th century, paperbacks being introduced, the kindle a few years back...etc.), and for another I learned about how half the departments in a publishing company will become virtually obsolete if physical books cease to exist.

That was a depressing recurring topic in the three hour class.
