Comic-Con 2012

Well, have you?

So I went to comic-con this weekend, and it was absolutely amazing. I got to see two great panels, one on transmedia which featured the producers/actors from this webseries called Dirty Work (I've seen/experienced the first episode, and it was a lot of fun, you should check out rides.tv if you want to see some weird but entertaining and interactive things) and another one on Buffy. Jane Espenson and a few other writers of the Buffy comics talked about the upcoming seasons (in comic form, naturally) the creative process and continuation/timelessness of the series.

Did I mention that Alan Tudyk is doing the voice of one of the characters on FourthWall Studios' (the studios behind this transmedia wonderfulness) animated series called "Airship Dracula." That's right folks, Alan Tudyk voices the captain in an interactive series that reimagines Dracula's journey to London as being traveled on an airship. Steampunk Draclua, is there really more that needs to be said?
NICHOLAS BRENDON! #dies #myemotions

And then...Nicholas Brendon showed up, and I immediately started crying. For some reason, that's the reaction I have to people who were an integral part of my childhood (see: Backstreet Boys concert when they played 'I'll be the One"). His presence exceeded my expectations. He is the embodiment of Xander, minus the excessive awkwardness, and he was funny and smart and charming, though much older than my mind's image of him.

Johnny Depp: Badassery

This picture makes me want to rewatch Cry Baby. And Grease...mostly Cry Baby though.

An Ode to young Johnny Depp

Because he's virtually ageless, and still a talented, creative, insane actor. May that never change.

Wolverine goes to Hogwarts

Now I just want someone to write/create an X-Men/Harry Potter crossover. Many people would watch or read that, if only to see wot the hell is going on, so no one has to worry about how to generate profit. I only have limited experience in marketing (five classes, 2.5 hours each), but I'd be happy to draw up a possible marketing plan, starting with, naturally, me meeting Hugh Jackman in person. That would work, right?

A companion that should have been

Source: whovianconfessions.tumblr.com
I completely agree, and I'm not just saying that because she was Muslim. She was fun and smart and spunky and brave, and she clearly got along quite well with the Doctor. I think she would have been good for him, and I think he knew that (which would explain the violent reaction he had to her death). I was quite sad to see her succumb and lose her faith, though, granted, that sadness was overshadowed by the shock of Rory and Amy's departure, but it was and is still there.

On Cats and Whovianism

I wish I could have conversations with my cat about Doctor Who.

Come to think of it, I'd most likely be very impressed if my cat started talking about anything, let alone Doctor Who. But that would be extra special. Unless he says something along the lines of "Fucking aye! Again? Didn't you watch that episode a week ago? WATCH SOMETHING NEW WOMAN."

Speaking of cats and Doctor Who, my aunt has recently rescued a cute little kitten from the outside world (which I might have mentione), who has been bathed, fed and given an abundance of love (via moi and my face/body which has apparently turned into a scratching post-chew toy-day bed combination).

"How is that relevant?" I hear you ask (albeit silently). Well my sister and I have decided to name him the Doctor...Doctor for short. I like to believe that since the Doctor can regenerate, why not into an animal? The Tenth Doctor seemed to have a fondness for kittens, before the whole New New York growing of humans incident at least.

Also, think of it! A cat has nine lives, so logically (stay with me here) if the Doctor's final regeneration is into a cat, he can have nine extra lives! It's like getting a 1up in Mario, except it's not Mario and it's a 9up.

It makes sense in my head, which is now thinking "quick, distract them with a cute picture!" Good thinking, self.
He's holding a Sonic Screwdriver, it's just invisible.

Hades

Source: thenobodythatneverwas.tumblr.com
I must say, as Disney villains go, Hades has always been my favourite. I think it was more or less his dry humour/sarcasm that got to me. I hope I haven't posted this already, because for the life of me I cannot remember if I have or not, but still, it's worth it. The details and shading and expressions, even the colouring, everything about this picture is amazing. Props to the artist

Buffy Plots

It just depends on wot your definition of 'coherent' is. Now, for a Buffy fan, it means many a strange thing. So yes, this part was quite coherent to me.

So, I dunno about that weirdness his face has contorted to in the bottom half of the picture, but that top part just makes me want to go "Oh, hey there Sexy."

This man is extremely stylish and bold. Also, a hipster, but I can handle that.

This girl is simply stunning. There's no other word to describe her, she's just stunning. And she can act, so double trouble!

Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows and paranoia

I'm going to go ahead and admit something...I have yet to see the trailer for Deathly Hallows Part 2. I know, I know, I'm a disgrace to the Harry Potter community/fandom, but let me explain myself. See, here's how it is: I'm frightened. I'm scared of the emotions/tears/breakdown that will arise once I watch the trailer. I'm afraid of the surge of emotions that will undoubtedly occur when it hits me that this is it. After this movie, nothing new that is Harry Potter related will be released for the world's enjoyment. After July 15th, only the memory of my experiences with each book, each Midnight Magic Party, each Midnight movie release, will remain, and that scares me to death. It scares me because it's a reminder of how I'm getting older by the day, how I grew up with this series, and now it's coming to an end...it's almost as if (as depressing as it may sound) with the final scene of the movie will come the final scene to that part of my childhood. I will recently have turned 22 (22!) and that will just be a summation of my youth and all the magic and fantasy and hope and heartbreak and breathtaking spurts of adventure and imagination, when I walk out of that theatre at 3ish in the morning on that day (because I'll be damned if I miss the midnight showing), I will have to face the realities of the world and move past the beauty of the expanded universe that only something as soul-grabbing as children's fantasy literature can create in ones mind.
Basically, the way my mind is working right now makes me think that if I prolong watching the trailer, maybe I can prolong that? It makes sense if you don't actually think about it.

Copa del Rey: CAMPEONES!

It's a tad bit blurry, because the stream I got it from got blurry when I screen-shoted it...but still, the point gets across. We won! By a tiny margin of extra luck, and Cristiano being on point for once, and possibly some acts of violence on Real's part...but still, the result is the same.

I love watching Casillas lift trophies (see: Euro 2008, World Cup 2010) because he always does this scream of triumph and passion and joy. It wonderfully reflects the screams of passion and triumph and joy that leap out of my mouth without my control, usually accompanied by "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!" and a lot of me looking around the room to see if anyone will share in the engulfing surge of happiness, and/or will simply let me go into detailed explanations of which particular play was the turning point.
More often than not I find that I'm actually all alone (save the cat who, at this point, has most likely darted away from my random, seemingly bi-polar behaviour which consisted of either screaming out in joy, letting loose a long string of expletives at my computer, or huddling with my eyes half-shielded going 'oh no, oh please no, please no'), so I have to be content with sending instant messages or texts to members of the losing team (i.e. future husband, and most of my family members). I deserve to gloat when the chance arises, it's not often that it does.

Caution: TARDIS

I guess this means that Tardis' don't have to pay the meter?
