David Tennant's Face of the Day

Source: renlybaratheeon.tumblr.com
I can't wait for the 50th Anniversary. I've been less than enthused by the latest seasons of Doctor Who, storyline-wise, so I'm hoping some familiar faces will help reignite the flame of nerdlove in me. Not that I don't love Eleven, he's quirky and fun, the recent arcs just haven't been as exciting and emotionally engrossing to me as the old ones.

Potential Blog Additions

Hello my lovelies. Another day, another useless post that involves mild updates on my current life status (read: more excuses as to why I haven't been posting) and some thoughts I had about the blog/things to add to it.

First of all, officially graduate/earn a M.S. in Science for Publishing next Monday! Which is both extremely exciting and unbelievably frightening. Somehow, though that's less than a week away, there's just so much left  to do (not including catching up on way too many shows than I should be watching at once to begin with).

I'm also thinking of adding a 'The Doctor Reads' kind of page for this blog where I can talk about books I'm reading, planning on reading, post book reviews/thoughts, etc. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? It's either that or create a whole new blog, which seems silly to me considering my inability to stay consistent.

Finally, my lovely friends and I are creating an awesome YA/Dragon Myth/Urban Fantasy/Social Media platformed story, so as soon as we have a brief synopsis, actual profiles, and other components ready, I'll let you guys know. Also, if we have a Storify page, you know that's going to be linked here too. Unlike Bea in Brief (who was my child, and whom I love very dearly), this is not a requirement of any sort and was thought of/agreed upon/discussed/brainstormed/what have you collectively with people who are as equal excited about it as I am, and actually enjoy the same type of genres/nerdy things. No offense to my Bea partners...

Anyway, back to trudging through this frightening week before having to face the real world.

From Farm to Pasture: A Moomoir in Progress

Bea, the Bold Bovine. The diva/hero(ine)/protagonist of the story.
So for a class assignment (last class ever, unless I decided to get another Master's or a PhD.) we were split in groups and told to create a story over different social media platforms/try to garner fans (i.e. people who actively participate/interact, whether it's adding to the story or just talking with the author/creator). Thus spawned the (in progress) adventures of Bea, the Bold Bovine!

If you're on instagram, twitter, or tumblr you should totally follow (and interact with!) @BeaInBrief (that's linked directly to the twitter).

It's also compiled on Storify: Follow Bea's Story!

You don't want to miss it, most of my hashtags involve terrible cow-puns...well, 'moo' puns, and we all know that puns are the pinnacle of comedy. There will be action, drama, suspense, laughter, tears, hyperbole, and the unavoidable not-so-subtle references to various fandoms (I mean, come on, look at who's at the helm of this thing, aren't I nothing but an amalgamation of everything I love?).

I encourage love and feedback and just want everyone to have a good time so join in the fun, and maybe you can bring in some of your own inanimate friends to be Bea's moral support/cheerleaders and penpals on this clearly harrowing, life-changing journey!

CYOA in the Digital Age or Help a Student Out

 Hello my lovelies!

I'm doing research for my final capstone project (i.e. the project that will determine whether I graduate with a Master's triumphantly in May or am cast out from civilized society for being a failure) and would highly appreciate if you could take some time and answer a short survey for me. It's about Choose Your Own Adventure stories and serialized publishing and all that fun stuff us digital kids constantly talk about *shifty eyes*

Your responses will be anonymous, used purely for research and allowing-me-to-graduate purposes :-). If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me (aas475@nyu.edu). Or, you know, leave a comment here. Also, if you know anyone who's interested in serialized fiction or interactive fiction or reading or choosing their own adventure, please send this along to them! I will forever be in your debt and will celebrate You day for the rest of my life.

Tenth Doctor: The Musical

I was directed to this wonderful, almost tear-inducing video by my favourite Viking Junior (the younger sister of my wonderful Viking roommate) and would recommend it to all Tennant fans, if you have 7 minutes or so of free time. Honestly, I would not be opposed to remaking all of Ten's seasons as a musical. I do miss me some Rose and Donna (and Micky).

In other news, you'd think that being in my last semester of Grad school, with only Capstone and half a class left I'd be half done with my work and relaxing. Yet somehow, with one class a week for the first half of the semester, I still find myself scrambling to get things done on time. Senioritis? Aren't I too old for that? Who knows, all I know is that if I don't have a business plan/power point presentation for a financially viable publishing company written out by the beginning of May, I'm screwed.

David Tennant's Face of the Day

Source: davidennanttwitter.blogspot.com
This picture, that face, is how I feel right now.

In the process of writing out my Capstone proposal for my next, and final, semester of Graduate School. It's frightening, especially knowing that if they reject my idea, I have no backup that seems feasible at the moment (read: No back up. Period). And they have a tendency to reject ideas.

I mean, how hard could it be to come up with a creative, novel, competitive, well thought-out digital/print or print-only publishing endeavor in an age where the publishing industry is changing rapidly and consistently while systematically coming up with how funding will be acquired, how your product will be marketed, and basic costs and revenues?

Wish me luck.
