John Barrowman, Comic-Con bubbliness

Source: harold--saxon.tumblr.com
Torchwood Panel at Comic-Con 2011.

There are many things I love about John Barrowman in this series of gifs. His Iron Man shirt for starters, his facial expressions, and his outrageousness and enthusiasm at being able to have sex with a 22 year old on tv.

Mostly the last...I'm 23, can I be on Torchwood? If I can't have Teninch, I'll take Captain Hotsauce.

[Addendum: I don't know why it took me five days to realize this, but I'm actually 22, and not 23. I think the heat and the fasting and the lack of sleep has caused me to age prematurely. Or maybe I've been travelling with the Doctor for a year and lost track of time. Let's just go with the last one, shall we?]

"Honey, I shrunk the chair again!" is where my mind went. Not very original but...

Face of Boe

Someone please explain to me how this beautiful, otherworldly, cheeky creature:

Becomes this notsobeautiful, otherworldly, wise beyond recognition entity:

I just remember my reaction at the end of the episode (which one was it? I just remember Martha being there, so that must have been Series 3) when Jack tells them that they used to call him "the face of Boe" when he was younger and literally leaping off of the couch and being like "FUCKING AYE! WOT?! WOT?! NO WAY!" while my sister stared at me blankly (she had walked in in the middle of the episode, so she had no idea wot I was on about). I still forget every once in a while, probably because it hasn't been brought up since, but it never fails to blow my mind once I remember.
Sort of like how realizing that "Torchwood" is an anagram of "Doctor Who," or that the drumming the Master heard was actually the heartbeat of a Time Lord, or how you can hear that same rhythm in th background of the theme song. All those things that are interwoven so well into the very essence of the show that they seem natural and unplanned. But we all know that Davies and Moffat knew/know exactly wot they're doing. Damn those creative, frightening minds.

Torchwood

I love the everyday crime drama feel that Torchwood has. I'm a sucker for shows like Castle and Bones or The Mentalist where every episode features them trying to solve a crime, but funnier/more character oriented than Law & Order and CSI (although Horatio Cane holds a very special place in my heart). To me Torchwood is like that, just with the aliens. Which, I supposed is the point at the end of the day.
I absolutely adore Ianto. After he got over his emo in season one, and started becoming snarky he became my favourite. And, since my love of Captain Hotsauce just transferred from Doctor Who, I can't help but ship Jack/Ianto. Because, as much as I would love to see him and Gwen get together (they have fantastic chemistry), she has Reese. Ianto has no one.

Okay, so this might be one of those things where I'm just really really slow on the uptake. But a friend recently mentioned how Torchwood = Doctor Who rearranged, and it blew my mind. I actually had to stop and mentally move the letters around (just like Tom Riddle did in the Chamber of Secrets) to see it, and then did it twice more to triple check. Isn't that just fantastically clever?

No? Just me? All right then.

Spike Love

"And now I'm just a biiig fluffy puppy with bad teeth."
- Spike

He used to be my favourite, before he fell in love with Buffy and got all pansy-like. Nobody likes a Pansy Spike. He was just so entertaining. Angel had me at "don't worry, I don't bite," but Spike was the resident bad boy, and who can resist that?
Clearly I'm still a pre-teen when it comes to attraction to bad boys and the like.

Since we're on the subject of James Marsters being snarky, this is pretty entertaining too (0:20-0:24 is the best part)

Reading about Ancient Egyptians and their concepts of order (Maat) and chaos and creation makes me realize there was a reason I took this class. I might forget this reason while in class and I will probably curse it vehemently over the next few days, but when I can block out the stress of grades and boredom of droning lectures, I appreciate it for the fascinating topic that it is.

Captain Jack

We've nicknamed him "Captain Jack Hotsauce."
The first time I saw him he reminded me so much of Tom Cruise, circa Top Gun. His charm, his mannerisms, his flirtatious tendencies, even the outfit. Oh, and that smile, the wonderful wonderful smile.
Is it wrong that I love both the idea of Jack and Ianto and Jack and Gwen together? There's something about the way he is with both of them that I just love. There's a loving sweetness with Yanto, an almost protective possessive quality to the way he looks at and kisses him. With Gwen though, it's almost more like yearning, like being with her would be a fulfilment, the thing that he needs to feel complete.
