The Side of the Angels

Source: deducingtheheartofthedetective.tumblr.com
So, despite knowing that Sherlock is supposed to die but come back, I managed to not only be crying profusely for the last ten minutes of the episode, but also be genuinely surprised to see him reappear at the end.

Now that's some great writing and acting. Thank you Stephen Thompson (the guy who wrote the episode), Benedict Cumberbatch, and Martin Freeman. Also, Andrew Scott is amazing!

Silence will answer

Source: couldbeanythingthereforenothing.tumblr.com

Okay, done with the first two episodes of the second half of the season, and I am quite happy with them. I think wot made me the happiest was those holographic pictures of Rose and Martha and Donna, my heart skipped a beat when they appeared, and then broke a little when the Doctor said "there must be someone left in the universe I haven't screwed up yet." I think, for the most part, it's because it made me feel like Steven Moffat was finally not pretending that the Doctor's past incarnations, and those that he travelled with, don't still affect him. In the previous season and a half, it just seemed that Moffat was just trying to make him not care any more, and, yes, new Doctor, new personality new companions, etc. etc. but regardless of his incarnations, his memories and the feelings attached tot hem aren't any different. So his loss and love of Rose, his pain due to losing Martha and the constant threat of her remembering and dying because of it, it should still be there inside, driving him.

So thank you Moffat, thank you for allowing the guilt and pain and memories to resurface. As an incredibly nostalgic person, I really do appreciate it.

Also, I quite enjoyed explaining away River's lack of regeneration in Forest of the Dead, and am intrigued as to what this question is. Could it be the same question that we're trying to figure out about Life, the Universe, and Everything? Because if so, I know the answer.

Come along, Pond

Firs of all, she is absolutely beautiful. Second of all, I still haven't started watching the season continuation /hangsheadinshame, but I will do so soon..and by soon I mean as soon as my sister finishes catching up. She's at Teninch's poor-excuse-for-a-season-that-made-everyone-die-a-little-inside, so hopefully we'll get started soon.

Until then, I have to be responsible and actually do my readings and get work done. Starting with trying to make it through my two hour and a half class. It's the first day, I'm sure I'll be okay.

David Tennant's face of the day

I miss my Doctor. Had to take him back to my grandmother's house, where he belongs because I refused to put him in cargo for 14 hours (that's how long a plane ride from the Emirates to New York is). But it was so sad to leave him behind, especially since by the time I get to see him again, he will literally look completely different (he's already developing stripes on his all-white fur). Seems the name we picked was very fitting.

On the bright side, by the time this is put online, I'll be on the plane on my way back home! Woot woot!

Batman and Doctor Who, if only

Source: elvinhernandez.deviantart.com
This should be real. I'm saying this because Batman has always been my favourite superhero, and right now the Doctor is one of my favourite [insert any noun that pertains to him]. It's like having a movie with both the Doctor and Harry Potter. That level of awesomeness, in my humble opinion, in comic book form would explode into a flurry of fascinating storylines of parallel universes where the Doctor joins the main characters on some epic adventure or another and helps them save the world.

I mean, Marvel and DC are up to their ears in parallel universes where the dead aren't actually dead, so why not join forces with BBC/Steven Moffat/Russel T. Davies and make all nerd boys and girls alike die from excitement. I can just picture the bonds of friendship forged at comic-cons across the universe as people dressed like Gambit approach someone dressed like the Tenth Doctor and discuss the latest adventure their respective characters had in the latest Uncanny X-Men.

I feel like their should be a petition of some sort to make this happen. Don't they always have petitions for the cult like fan needs? Or is that just for things that Joss Whedon creates that the network decides isn't popular enough?

Silly name competition

Yeah, our dear Sherlock wins by a landslide. Though I feel like Eccly should have dealt a little more damage than that.

Captain Jack

We've nicknamed him "Captain Jack Hotsauce."
The first time I saw him he reminded me so much of Tom Cruise, circa Top Gun. His charm, his mannerisms, his flirtatious tendencies, even the outfit. Oh, and that smile, the wonderful wonderful smile.
Is it wrong that I love both the idea of Jack and Ianto and Jack and Gwen together? There's something about the way he is with both of them that I just love. There's a loving sweetness with Yanto, an almost protective possessive quality to the way he looks at and kisses him. With Gwen though, it's almost more like yearning, like being with her would be a fulfilment, the thing that he needs to feel complete.

Hello, I'm the Doctor

What is it with these Brits and their sticky-outy ears that just gets to me? Matt Smith here is no exception in the line of the Doctors of my lifetime. It's like Christopher Eccleston was the bait, David Tennant reeled me in, and now this youngin is preventing me from breaking free and swimming away.

"The world doesn't end if The Doctor dances"

I really had half a mind for my first post (and probably only for a long while) to be just that wonderful quote and picture, but then I realized that that does not a good first impression make. So here's some text to go along with it.
We (my lovelies/besties/roommates and I, the former who will also be known as Moon and Viking) have reached episode three of the 11th Doctor's run, and they're in London during the Blitz. Fitting, don't you think? (For those of you who are unaware of this fact, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances episodes occur during the London Blitz)
It makes me sad and happy at the same time.
Anyway, the phrase "The Doctor Dances" has been stuck in my head since I saw the episode(a constant drum beat, like The Master's drums, the heartbeat of a Time Lord bubububum, bubububum, over and over until they infiltrated my waking hours) and it kept inspiring me to write and think and dream and explore the multidimensional realm of possibilities that is imagination, so I thought it was extremely fitting to have it as my blog title.

I cannot wait to see where it takes me.
