Book Thoughts: Soulless

If you're looking for a light, fun, steampunky paranormal romance/adventure set in 19th century London where Werewolves, Vampires and even Ghosts are a normal part of high society and the main character is wonderfully spunky, this is the book for you.

To be honest, I found myself a little irritated by the notions of proper etiquette and her being a 'spinster' and un-marriageable because of her Italian heritage and strong personality (damn my modern mindset!), but there was an authenticity to the time period with that mindset that made up for it.

Keep in mind, this is very much an adult book in terms of the romance content, though it's thankfully not something that is focused on too much and therefore doesn't detract from the story itself (*cough*Laurell K. Hamilton*cough*).

I honestly thought I'd be better at this whole not disappearing thing by now...but clearly I'm not. On the bright side, my disappearance has to do with me being productive, as opposed to dead. I have an internship

So now twice a week, from 9am (when I leave my home) to 9:30pm (to when I return), I am indisposed. It's fun(ish) but extremely exhausting. Hopefully though, it means I'm all the closer to reaching my goal of being an editor/opening up my own publishing house. Dream big, right?

So I just realized that, technically, it's past evening time. Damn you summer time with your mixed sunlight/actual time signals! I'm trying to think back on my day and figure out how is it that it got this late without me realizing, but after walking from Avenue C to Hudson St and then most of the way back (with a Sushi Lounge pit stop, of course) I feel like a lot was actually done today. Yay for me? It makes me feel a little better about the whole not posting regularly thing I've been up to. Somehow, the lack of things to do has made me more prone to doing nothing, as opposed to making me more diligent.
          Yes, I thought you should all know that. Also, dying the tips of my hair bright pink, mostly because I'm bored. Doing a test strand made me realize how much the smell of bleach makes me want to die, so I'm also really looking forward to that feeling.

The boys are back in town

Does anyone remember when Sam was adorable/didn't make everyone cringe by the way his hair curled weirdly around his ears? I remember those days. I know, I know, I've talked about this before and about the correlation between his hair length/curlatude and his acting abilities (longer/curlier = impairment of acting skrillz) and I know that it's really superficial of me to care so much about his looks. But...he was so cute. It just saddens me. I shouldn't be surprised though, I came to the realization years ago (i.e. when Supernatural first started) that Jared Padalecki (no offense to him, because I do think he's attractive) tends to act opposite other male leads that are shorter, but kind of sexier than he is.

          This person is making a pop up guide/book of Supernatural! And the pictures that have been put up are absolutely fantastic. I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I'm seven at heart which means that pop up books are my thing. It's true, I have a 'all about pirates' pop up book and one on dragons...I haven't acquired the faeries one yet, but I will one day. This is just such a brilliant idea and I'm so glad someone is not only attempting it, but is also doing it extremely well from the looks of it. The detail is amazing. Good luck with this project!
