The Side of the Angels

Source: deducingtheheartofthedetective.tumblr.com
So, despite knowing that Sherlock is supposed to die but come back, I managed to not only be crying profusely for the last ten minutes of the episode, but also be genuinely surprised to see him reappear at the end.

Now that's some great writing and acting. Thank you Stephen Thompson (the guy who wrote the episode), Benedict Cumberbatch, and Martin Freeman. Also, Andrew Scott is amazing!

David Tennant's face of the day

Source: edmacfarlane.tumblr.com

Anyone else think this is highly depressing? I'm sure that a bunch of fans shared that moment too though, once they realized wot it was, and then went back and replayed it over and over. I might do that one day have a repeat of the 'Final Tenth Doctor sonic moment.' Or, even better!, just watch clips of him sonici-ng things back to back.

New Year Love

Source: cocokat.tumblr.com
To all you wonderful, amazing people out there who continue to return to this blog (to my utter amazement and joy) despite my lack of creativity and inconsistency: I hope that this year brings you the courage to simply walk into Mordor, the clarity to find the droids your are looking for, the ingenuity to manage your mischief, the health to overcome the zombie outbreak, and the opportunity to travel to all the times and places you could ever dream of.

Happy 2012 everyone! Remember to keep it secret and keep it safe, but most of all keep it fun!

Happy New Year! (Gift: Meme Marriage Proposal)

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR (to those on or East of the Prime Meridian)!

To celebrate this first day of humanity's last year on earth, according to the people who seem to think the Mayan's stopped producing calendars past the year 2012 because they were predicting the end of the earth, rather than it was simply the end of their 'calendar' cycle and they probably just figured they'd save themselves the trouble/extra work now and let the future generation continue once they got to that point (and lo and behold, they didn't have to bother), I present to you an amazing, heart-warming video.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

Source: jmak.tumblr.com

So, if you don't already know by now, Steve Jobs died earlier today. I've never bought a Mac, I love my PC and am too familiar with it to want to give that up, but I own an iPhone which I love to death, and an iPad which I would die of boredom with out. Though, like many people out there, I don't know him personally, I still can't help but feel sad at his passing. Despite whatever grievances I might have with Apple products, there's no denying that Steve Jobs (though clearly he wasn't the only one in the company doing so) introduced the world to so many innovations and technological progressions that we now use and love, and in some cases, consider a base standard (such as the graphical user interface...i.e. those little icon things that I don't even want to know how we operated without) True, he didn't think of it first, but he did commercialize it/refine it, and he presented these products with passion and enthusiasm, which a lot of CEOs seem to lack (no offence Jeff Bezos, still love Kindle and Amazon).

At the end of the day a great, charismatic mind was lost to the world, because, honestly, who knows wot else he could have come up with.

David Tennant's face of the day

Source: timevictorious.tumblr.com
Just finished reading the Hunger Games series. It's 3:00am. I might or might not have shed a good number of tears during the last chapter or so. I really need to sleep because I have a project to finish and a quiz to study for.

For the love of Doctors and Wizards

This was, believe it or not, the first picture I ever saw relating to Doctor Who. Years before I got into the show (which was this winter, but the way I talk and blog about it you’d think I’ve been on this bandwagon since the start, wouldn’t you?)  I remember seeing this picture, agreeing vehemently, and then filing it away for further examination at a later point. I don’t know why I didn’t start watching it right away. Maybe it’s because I was wary of falling madly in love with another fictional character or being emotionally invested in these characters only to be heartbroken (Joss Whedon has made me a cynic when it comes to viewer/character relationships. He’s taught me that any bond I form with a character he's created will always end in tears, thanks for that Joss), but I just stalled getting into the reboot of the show.

Clearly I’m over that emotional block and, now when I look at this picture, I can truly appreciate it for the brilliance that it exudes. At the same time though, when I rewatch the show (like I have been these past few weeks) I feel myself getting so sad at moments I should, theoretically, be over. My dear Eccly regenerating into Teninch, for one. Rose being left in Bad Wolf bay (haven't quite reached that yet, but soon). All those moments I know are coming, because I've experienced them once before and was hurt by them once before, just end up hurting me all over again. I seem to unintentionally invest a lot more of my self into these fictional characters than a normal person should. If I keep spreading myself this thin emotionally, eventually I wont be able to fall madly in love with real people.

That's a really scary and dramatic thought, probably brought upon by the fact that I feel like I'm getting old. I am part of the Harry Potter generation, and that era has ended. True, Pottermore is going to be launched soon, and as Ms. Rowling so heart wrenchingly put it, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome us home, but it's still not the same. There will be no more premiers to witness, midnight showings to get dressed up for, Midnight Magic Parties to attend. That anticipation, toe curling in it's awesomeness, felt by millions around the world, to turn that page and read those first words. When's the last time that so many people have waited so long for a children's book? When was the last time that magic and mischief and school and death and coming of age caused so much people to come together and celebrate and gossip and speculate about hidden meanings and possible foreshadowing?

Better yet, when's the next time this will happen?

I'm not quite sure how I went from Doctor Who to Harry Potter (all the while managing to revert to emo teenager phase), but as an ultimate nerd I guess it's all connected in my mind in one huge, overly emotional, super excited, extremely invested, pulsating mass of gushing, unabashed fangirlism.

"Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home."

I wish I could be home right now.

So long, Harry

Source: dailyloreena.tumblr.com
Basically, everything on tumblr today (it's actuall the 7th today, just scheduling things for the next week where I'll be internetless) is about the Harry Potter premier. It makes me want to break down into tears (I'm quite sensitive, you should know that by now) every time I scroll down. But this one just...I don't know, it just caught my eye. It is so simple yet so powerful.

Post Potter Depression

Source: horcruxes-and-hallows.tumblr.com
This is how I feel currently. I know I have yet to see the last movie, but I'm already anticipating the pain and hollowness of a lack of midnight magic parties and releases and premiers and magic.

What every potter fan wants to hear

Source: 21lovesongs.tumblr.com
DO IT! For the love of God an all your psychotic, emotional fans that don't know wot to do with themselves now that it's all over, write another one. Write something that includes Hogwarts and magic, but don't tease us.

Laptop death

So my beautiful 17" hp pavilion dv7-something or other laptop is currently in laptop intensive care, holding on for dear life. I mean, I should have seen Loveburger's demise coming, considering I've had him for almost three years (and that's ancient if your ever tried to keep an hp and actually use it regularly), but it still saddens me. Getting a new laptop that doesn't need to be plugged in to work, and that doesnt overheat in 2 minutes (and, recently that connects to the Internet and has working keys) would probably be a good idea, but we'll see.

Till then, I give you:

Not my wonderful Teninch, true. But for you fellow WoW or fantasy game fans, humorous nonetheless.

Out of goodbyes

Source: the-last-time-lord.tumblr.com
I can hear it so clearly, him saying her name. I can vividly see the shock on his face after he disapears from Bad Wolf Bay and is back in the TARDIS, with that singular, heartbreaking tear rolling down his cheek. And then he crashes into the space/sky/ironically named Titanic.

Once you go Ten...

This was so heartbreaking. Clearly, we all learned to love David Tennant (Rose included), but at that moment, I wanted nothing more than my Nine to come back, big sticky out ears and leather jacket and Northern accent and all.

I miss you, my Doctor. You truly were fantastic.

It's Raining Doctors

I would follow that title up with "hallelujah," except for the fact that this isn't a very happy/graceful moment.

Goodbye, Doctor

I love, love, love that Ten went back and, in his own way, said good bye to all his companions. I might have hated it that he had to leave, but I think that was a perfectly fitting, if not exceptionally fitting, farewell for Ten, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Tear, heartbreak, and all.
